Hourly chauffeur hire in NYC: how it works
The three-hour minimum, rates by vehicle, and the point where hourly beats booking separate trips.

The short version
- Hourly charter starts at $99 an hour with a three-hour minimum.
- Waiting between stops is part of the hour — no separate wait charges.
- Roughly three or more stops in a day, hourly usually costs less.
What hourly buys
On an hourly booking the chauffeur and vehicle are yours for the block you reserve. They wait while you are in a meeting, keep your coats and bags in the car, and move to the next address the moment you are ready. Nothing is re-dispatched and no one else rides.
Rates and the minimum
All hourly bookings carry a three-hour minimum. Time runs from your scheduled pickup to your final drop-off, including waiting.
- Luxury Sedan — $99 per hour
- Cadillac XT6 — $99 per hour
- Chevrolet Suburban — $115 per hour
- GMC Yukon — $125 per hour
- Cadillac Escalade ESV — $125 per hour
- Mercedes-Benz S-Class — $150 per hour
When hourly is cheaper
Compare against one-way fares. Two point-to-point trips in a Luxury Sedan often cost less than three hours of charter, but the moment a day has three or more stops — or any real waiting between them — hourly wins, and it removes the risk of not finding a car for the return leg.
A four-hour Manhattan afternoon in a sedan is $396 plus any tolls. The same day as four separate transfers with waiting would usually cost more and be far less convenient.
Tolls, parking and gratuity
The $7.46 Manhattan or Bronx crossing toll and the $20 cross-state toll are added automatically when your route uses them. Venue or garage parking beyond the included allowance is billed at cost. On hourly work gratuity is added by you at the end; 15–20% of the bill is customary, and full days are often tipped $100–$200.
Good fits for hourly
- Investor roadshows and multi-office days
- Wedding parties and photo stops
- Broadway or dinner evenings where you want the car waiting
- A visiting executive or family for a full day in the city
- Shopping, gallery or property-viewing afternoons
